Hot Off the Presses . . . "Welcome the Task."

LeeAnn sent this great photo of Sister Geri Bangerter at the printer's.

"Glenda is holding up Mom's title page "Welcome the Task", which of course will be cut down to size.

From left to right:
JaLayne (Paulo's wife), Paulo, Mom, Glenda and Lee Ann.

"We saw pallets of pages from Mom's book.  It will be about 300 or so pages.  Sometime next week, Mom will get her books and take them home.  She ordered 1500 copies , , , $15.00 a copy....  We're all excited for Mom!  Heidi, Julie's youngest daughter, worked with Mom for 10 years, getting information, writting down her history, organizing the book, etc., a huge job!"

Season of Celebrating -- Geri Bangerter's 89th

Dear Beloved Brazilian Missionaries,

You are invited to join the Bangerter family in a celebration of
Geraldine Hamblin Bangerter’s 89th birthday. We are grateful for her
health and strength at this time. We have planned a season of
celebrating rather than a single day. She would love to see any of you
who are able to visit and would also be happy with a phone call.
Mother is still bright in her spirit and mind although she often uses
a walker to get around. She has made a remarkable recovery from her
stroke nearly two years ago. To commemorate good doctor reports she
went to Disneyland with Duella and her family after Christmas and had
a wonderful time riding around on Dad's motorized wheelchair.

Celebration season: Sunday February 24th  through Sunday March 3rd.
Open House times:
   Sunday, Feb. 24    2-8 PM
   Monday, Feb. 25   12-8 PM
   Sunday, March 3    2-8 PM

If you would like to come at another time during the week, call Geri
at 801.756.4236. or 801.897.0554 (cell)

Location:  Bangerter Farm, 542 S. Alpine Hwy., Alpine, UT 84004

For your information:

Geraldine’s recently printed biography, titled Welcome the Task, will
be available for purchase for $15.00 per copy for anyone who drops by
the house.   She would love to sign your copy.  She’s very excited
about this warm and charming full-color, beautifully designed 320 page
memoir.  Her granddaughter Heidi Shin has worked with her for over a
decade to transcribe interviews, search through journals and letters,
take photos and assemble artifacts. You will especially appreciate the
in-depth chapter about her time in Brazil. If you are not able to
visit for her birthday, but would like to purchase the book for
yourself and your family members, call Julie Beck, 801.518.9994, Heidi
Beck Shin 801.318.2043, or Cory Bangerter  801.885.3628.  Or, email:

Much love to you,
Julie B. Beck

LDS Portuguese-Language Blog.

For your information, Kim and I are both doing Sharing the Gospel Online church-service missions.  Nice to see him after all these years.  Among other things Kim has created facebook pages and googleplaces listings for Brazil Institutes of Religion.  He is now assisting  Richard Robbins, our Sharing the Gospel Online supervisor, launch a Portuguese-language blog.  This is what they do:

"We’ve been working on the new Brazil site on LDS.org .  The main purpose of setting up a blog is to point searches to the Church’s official website for Brazil.  Doing that improves the rankings of the Church’s official site.

"Getting traffic to the  Portuguese blog is somewhat of a secondary priority.  For those who do visit, we want to have useful and enjoyable content.  Since I [Richard] like to talk about religion and politics, I’ll be writing articles about those subjects as well as others that interest me.  If I put enough blog entries on that site (10-20), it will begin to get some recognition and authority from Google, and I can then pass that authority to the Church’s official sites."

Richard and Kim's invitation to you Portuguese speakers/writers:
"You can sign up on this site to blog in Portuguese and help our new Brazil website:

"On your posts, you can link to pages on http://www.lds.org.br.  "

Click on this link for a sample of a blog entry.

Add your entries, comments, likes, etc.  If you have questions you can contact Richard, sr@ldschurch.org or Kim, kim@therussells.net.
